Lime Magnesium Biotin E Foot Mask: Marilyn’s Homemade Foot Mask (I)
(Approximations in measurements)
(Investigator: Marilyn W. Shumba-Mendez, Oct. 12 2023, My first homemade foot mask)
Purpose & Concerns: My feet felt dry and under the weather they started to crack. I conduced a same day home experiment or test to try and soften feet, remove dead skin, and lessen and prevent further cracking.
Hypothesis:
If I topically use home acidic products, supplements, and oils that I selected to mask, soak, exfoliate, moisturize and reduce pain to the affected thick skin, I predict that my feet will begin to soften and heal based on the known properties of each of those products.
Subject: Self
Home Experiment: Making Foot Mask
Methods I:
Mixed these ingredients:
2.5 table spoons green lime/lemon
2-3 table spoons apple cider vinegar
Rite aide 2500 mcg Biotin capsule powder
2 Nature’s Made magnesium capsules
1 or 2 table spoons Dollar Tree vitamin E oil (Spa Naturals Brand oil with ingredients Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut ) Oil).
1 or 2 table spoons olive oil
Corn starch
-Wrap feet in kitchen plastic wrap for 1-3 hours
Note: Feet already had shea butter and Vaseline I put at nights and throughout day
BEFORE MASK, SOAK and SCRUB
Methods (II):
After I created a foot mask
I soaked with remainder of actual fresh green lime (after I used some of its juice for foot mask)
Then I scrubbed with 4 in 1 foot file with pumice stone and scrubber (one I always use)
I did foot mask for about one hour
Then I soaked twice (each time until very water became cool) and scrubbed twice before discarding water; scrubbed with different parts of 4 in 1 foot file and scrubber
AFTER MASK, SOAK and SCRUB
Applied 100% Shea Butter and Vaseline following this (as regular routine) and wore soft socks. Filed feet a bit more and reapplied the moisturizers.
Results:
Feet feel good and fresh, no longer feel pain and cracks have diminished or lessened more than expected, especially for the deepest crack on the right foot.
Future:
Might buy liquid bandage and balm with uric acid to use along with the regular Shea butter, Vaseline and regular lotions I use.
Might give exact measurements for repeat experiments and to conduct real official experiments (measurements were close to exact but also approximated, no lab tools used)
Other people might try and can compare results, or modify experiment
Might read literature and test the mixture or chemical reaction of solution is applicable using lab methods or recommend others to expand on this home experiment
DAY 2
About 24 hours later
Soaked feet in warm water, brushed and filed.
Applied the foot mask after I added 81 mg Bayer low-dose aspirin, 81mg enteric coated/delayed release tablet to the remainder of the foot mask (since I only used about 1/2 a teaspoon). It was hard to crush, and was not completely dissolved when applied on the second day. I had stored the foot mask in the fridge over night.
Wrapped feet in plastic for more than an hour. Feet felt really soft.
Rinsed, and used the 4 in 1 foot stone, brush and file tool to remove dead skin.
Applied vaseline and 100% African Natural Shea Butter.
